Rashee Rice

Postby AusTxPony » Wed Nov 02, 2022 11:06 am

The Athletic website predicts him the #48 pick in NFL draft. Congrats to the young man for his play at SMU.

"My top-ranked senior wide receiver in my preseason rankings, Rashee Rice has lived up to that high billing. He’s leading the FBS with 982 receiving yards through eight games. With his body control and hand-eye coordination, he is a ball winner who also brings value after the catch."

Of all of the SMU receivers to reach the NFL in recent years (Sanders, Beasley, Robinson, Proché, Sutton), Rice looks like the best prospect of all. Considering how good Sutton is, that's saying a lot.

I don’t know. Sutton’s a beast.

Wondering if Lavine makes a roster as a special teams guy.

I think Sutton had better hands than Rashee has shown this year. I remember thinking "if Courtland can touch it, he's going to catch it" He and Proche made so many one handed grabs it was fun watching both of them. SMU has been blessed to have had so many quality WRs come through here in our recent history. Rashee will hopefully be the next to add to SMU's growing "WRU" reputation

Sutton was definitely the best and a clear number 1 WR in the NFL. Next is probably Sanders. Rice isn't as explosive as Sanders, but he has the body to be a very solid number 2 WR in the NFL.

My first reaction would be no way, but I would have said the same thing about Denbow and he made the Colts' roster, so who knows?

Mordecai's comments about Lavine certainly make him sound like a guy some team might consider.

Danny Gray and Reggie Roberson were on the sideline last night, along with some guys named Dickerson and James.
