Lashlee Announces Six Staff Title Changes

DALLAS (SMU) – Six members of the SMU coaching staff are receiving title changes prior to the 2024 season, head coach Rhett Lashlee announced on Saturday.

Sam Hullender, Tyler Foster, Ryan Jenkins, Casey Horny, Hussam Ouri and John Bonney are being awarded adjusted titles as the Mustangs prepare for the 2024 campaign, the program's first in the ACC.

Hullender is now the Assistant Quarterbacks Coach / Head Coach Analyst as he enters his third season in Dallas. Previously, he was the Senior Offensive Quality Control Analyst and 2024 will mark his second year working with the quarterbacks.

As he gears up for his second season with the Mustangs, Foster's title is now Assistant Running Backs Coach / Assistant Director of Offensive Personnel. Last season, he served as the Assistant Director of Offensive Personnel / Offensive Analyst, and he came to the Hilltop after stints at Baylor and Oklahoma State.

Jenkins has been named the Assistant Wide Receivers Coach as he prepares for his first season with the Mustangs. He was initially hired as an Offensive Quality Control Analyst after he served as a graduate assistant at Arizona State.

Entering his first season at SMU, Horny is now the Assistant Special Teams Coordinator / High School Relations. His initial title was Special Teams Analyst / High School Relations, and he joined the Mustangs after a year as the defensive coordinator at Westwood High School in Austin and nine seasons at Baylor.

Previously serving as the Senior Defensive Quality Control Analyst, Ouri has been tabbed as the Assistant Linebackers Coach. Entering his third season in Dallas, he previously was on the staff at Louisiana Tech and his alma mater Shepherd University in West Virginia.

Initially being named a Defensive Quality Control Analyst, Bonney is now the Assistant Safeties Coach as he prepares to enter his first season with SMU. He previously served in capacities at Coastal Carolina, USC and Texas Southern following a successful playing career at Texas and Texas Tech.
