Three Mustangs Earn College Football Network Preseason All-America Honors

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU tight end RJ Maryland and linebacker Kobe Wilson have earned College Football Network Preseason Second-Team All-American honors while defensive end Elijah Roberts was named honorable mention, the organization announced on Monday.

The College Football Network was launched in 2022 as a subsidiary of Pro Football Network and aims to be the primary voice for college football.

Maryland earned Preseason Second-Team All-American Offense honors after a breakout season in 2023 where he started in every game and recorded the team's second most receptions (34), reception yards (518) and reception yards per game (37). The junior has now earned five preseason accolades prior to the 2024 campaign. Maryland already ranks second all-time in receiving touchdowns for a tight end in program history with 13.

Earning recognition for his work as a specialist, Wilson was named a Preseason Second-Team All-American Special Teams. Last year, the Snellville, Georgia, native led the team in tackles with 80 (48 solo), and he has already been named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-ACC Third Team and the Athlon Sports Preseason All-ACC Third Team Defense.

Roberts was named a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American Offense after a highly successful 2023 season where he started all 14 games. The Miami, Florida, native notched 37 tackles (21 solo) and led the Mustangs in sacks with 10.0. Roberts has already hauled in multiple preseason honors, including Athlon Sports and Phil Steele All-ACC Third and Fourth Team accolades along with Dave Campbell's Best Defensive Lineman and All-Texas First Team Defense recognition.
