Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12..announcements coming this week? WSU, OSU, Boise, SDSU, UNLV?, Gonzaga - hoops only, Wyoming, Colorado St., others??...Memphis has been holding out for a Big 12 invite for years and is still delusional about an ACC offer...they have a troubled Tier II market, weak fund raising donor prowess, and a sub standard academic reputation, but feel like they are now the big dog in a fading AAC, which is true. A revised Pac-12 would be better versus a diluted AAC for them, still not P-4, but a better route. I still scratch my head, however, as their stadium renovation is removing prime seats between the 20's, top to bottom, for a party patio, and their version of the "Mustang Club" raises $150,000 per year. Don't get me started about the reputation of their city. Side note - if the ACC were to add school, 2-3-5 years down the road, who would be you predictions?
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12Or anyone except the toads. Whichever of y’all is over on the ACC board saying the ACC needs to pull them needs to seriously check yourself.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
Depends on which schools could be gotten. I think that the ACC would benefit greatly from adding Utah, Arizona, and Arizona St. Large state AAU schools in a new time zone that geographically would link TX to CA. I know the WVU and Cincy would add to rivalries with existing ACC members. And being in OH would be good for recruiting for the league because OH turns out so much top talent.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12WVU has been begging for an ACC invite for years and has been stiff armed. Pitt, VT and UVA fans hate WVU. I suspect the old Big East teams like Louisville, Miami, BC and Syracuse would likewise not be in favor of adding WVU. SMU fans would not be crazy about Cincy. ASU, UU, and UA make a lot of sense.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
Fun Facts: WVU has an admissions rate of 88%. WV residents need a GPA of 2.0 and an SAT of 990 or a ACT of 19. I wonder why they are stiff armed?
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12Big 12 makes more money than the ACC plus FSU and Clemson are doing everything they can to get out.
ACC leftovers (I don't mean SMU) will join the Big 12 down the road not the other way around.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
Hate makes for the best rivalries. Pitt people will turn out in larger numbers and more passionate numbers playing WVU than anyone else.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
I assume you have forgotten about WVU being a member of BE football the entire time it existed. Cincy fans learned to love WVU as a rival because WVU always sold its allotment when playing at Cincy. Cuse actually has a nice history with WVU that goes back to the 1960s, after WVU left the SoCon and tried to position itself as an Eastern independent. Even Miami learned to respect that WVU fans travel well anywhere - all the way to Miami. SMU has no need to recruit OH, which means SMU would not see Cincy as a positive addition. But both Louisville and Pitt especially need to recruit OH annually and well.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
The Big 12 with OU and Texas made more money than the ACC did, but not by much. And that was just so that RSPN could keep Texas and OU in house for certain. Big 12 football with that pair drew more viewers per game than did the ACC, but the ACC drew more total viewers for football and many more total viewers per both revenue sports. The next Big 12 TV deal will be lesser than the current one. FSU is not going to leave the ACC for the Big 12, and neither is Clemson. WVU cannot drag Original Public Ivy Pitt but Pitt can drag WVU. The people who run the UofL have pinned their hopes in a big growth in academic reputation on ACC membership. They are not going anywhere. UNC and NCSU are not going to be split. UNC and UVA are not going to be split. GT intends to remain with UNC, UVA, and Dook. It seems that Miami too will remain inn the ACC. So even should FSU and Clemson leave, the ACC will remain. And it will have the ACCN. And it will have many takers if offered. That includes current Big 12 members.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12
You need to pass whatever you're smoking if you think FSU and Clemson are spending all this money and effort to get out of the ACC only to go to the Big 12, a lateral move at best.

You’ll find greater peace if you put that troll on ignore. But, it is true that he only posts on here when he gets a break from tending the Slurpee machines.

HCCC got blanked 34-zip today. Sorry man.
Re: Memphis & Tulane to an Expanded Pac-12WVU fans think nothing of keying your car or cursing you out (and then they wonder why no one likes them). Our board (thesabre.com, BTW) is loaded with horror stories of trips to Morgantown. And thn you have te burning of couches.
To paraphrase Colonel Kilgore, "I love the smaell of burning couches in the evening. It smells like ... Victory."
