Mustangs Land 6 On DCTF Midseason All-Texas Team
LEWISVILLE, Texas (DCTF/SMU) – The 21st-ranked SMU football team had six players tabbed to the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Midseason All-Texas Team, the publication announced on Sunday.
The Mustangs were tied for the second-most players on the list, behind only top-ranked Texas with 10. SMU had three players on the first team list.
DCTF's Midseason All-Texas college football teams includes 46 players with at least one representative from each of the 13 programs in the Lone Star State on the first or second team.
Tight end RJ Maryland, offensive lineman Logan Parr and running back Brashard Smith all were named to the First Team Offense. Parr has earned starts in every game this season at a guard position, while Maryland has accumulated 304 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Smith has been a breakout star for the Mustangs this year, racking up 561 yards rushing with seven touchdowns along with 138 yards receiving.
The second team list included offensive lineman Jakai Clark, defensive tackle Kori Roberson Jr. and safety Isaiah Nwokobia. Like Parr, Clark has also started every game for the Mustangs this season, with the last five coming at center. Roberson Jr. has recorded 13 tackles this season on the defensive line along with an interception, and Nwokobia has accumulated 39 tackles with an interception of his own.
SMU is back in action on October 19 when it hits the road to face Stanford. The game is set for 7 PM CT on the ACC Network.
