FORT WORTH, Texas (Davey O'Brien Foundation/SMU) – SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been named to the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2024, and is officially in the running for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The first round of the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote will take place on our @DaveyOBrien Instagram, Twitter (X) and Facebook accounts beginning shortly after Tuesday's QB Class announcement and running through midnight (ET) on Friday, Nov. 8. The top vote getters on each of the three social media platforms will receive bonus committee votes which will be added to the ballots cast by our National Selection Committee. Bonus votes will be tallied and issued during semifinalist, finalist and winner voting rounds.
This season, Jennings has gone 110-171 passing for 1,594 yards and 10 touchdowns. In addition, he has recorded 321 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
He currently sits eighth nationally, first in the ACC, in passing yards per completion at 14.49. The sophomore also has 9.32 yards per pass attempt, good for 11th nationally and second in the conference.
Following his performance against Stanford, Jennings was named a Great 8 Quarterback by the Davey O'Brien Foundation for the week.
Since being named the starter prior to the TCU game, Jennings has led the Mustangs to five consecutive wins, with all five being over power-conference opponents and four being ACC matchups. SMU has averaged 42 points per game during the winning streak.
A total of 35 quarterbacks make up the list, with seven being from the ACC. In addition, five QBs from the state of Texas are included in the list.
