Looks like you guys are finally set up to build some momentum early in the season. After Tech, you have three very winnable games followed by one on the road at Tulane (certainly a revenge game). I know UNT stunk last year, Ark State was not much better and SHSU should be an easy win. Sitting at 4-1 through week 5 looks very do-able from a distance but how is the rest of the league stacking up?
Also, how much are season tickets and single-game tix? Thanks in advance.

Don't know about ticket prices. But I think CUSA west should be more competitive this year. Rice should be improved under their new coach. Tulsa is pretty good already. UTEP is probably itching to pay us back. UH will not be easy either. So it will be no cake walk. We do get Marshall at home and hopefully get the same home cooking they got last year. We get ECU on the road, and they are beatable. So, if we can win our OOC games and go 4-4 again in CUSA we have a 7-5 year assuming one OOC loss. If we can go 5-3 in conference, we should have an 8 win season. I look at 7-5 as a must this year and 8-4 as what I hope for. Anything above that will be a spectacular year.

With three cupcake NC games, SMU has to go 7-5 or Bennett should move on.

Ratchet down those expectations. Even with the "cupcakes" (whoever thinks those are automatic wins should be warned), I think 5 or 6 wins is the likely outcome. If we see great play from the QB and LB early on, then we might be seeing 7 or 8 wins.

I think if Willis continues to improve, as people have said he has, we could no doubt have a 7-5 season.
The main problem for us last season was our offense. Our defense played great in most games, even for a half in that A&M game. The only game I didn't think they played well was the Tulane game where nobody played like they cared.
While saying 7-5 is a must, and I'm agreeing with you, I think we have to realize this is still SMU. I hope they can prove me wrong, but this is the same team that won the games they shouldn't of and lost the games they should've..meaning we could be 5-7.

No I think Bennett needs to have a 7-5 season, or he'll be shown the door (absent a rash of major injuries). This is the schedule that he begged for and got. So, its put up or shut up time. Excuses are just that, excuses and we can no longer afford them.

No prediction can be made until we know with some certainty what we have at QB, CB and LB.

7 wins or this team is worse than last year.
4-4 in conference, 3-1 NC = 7-5
8 wins is an improvement, 7 wins = last year, 6 wins = step back

If we go .500 and you people are [deleted], you have not been watching the program the past few years. We still have a lot of holes, give Phil some time.
I do wonder about our offense and its coordinator.
