IF YOU ARE GOING BACK LOOKING AT " Post Death Penalty near-shockers" WHY NOT LOOK AT THE REAL SHOCKERS, BEING THE THREE WINS IN A ROW AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS IN 1995 WHEN THE HOGS WON THE SEC WEST , 1996 A 31-10 MUSTANG VICTORY WHERE ARKANSAS RUSHED FOR MINUS 21 YARDS, WORST RUSHING GAME STATS. IN ARKANSAS FOOTBALL HISTORY, AND 1997 WHEN THE MUSTANGS BEAT THE HOGS AT ARKANSAS ! I am not talking about Arkansas St. either.
You are correct, sir. Those were fantastic wins (that received very little attention from the Dallas Media - surprise).
'95: SMU 17 Ark 14 (finished 1-10)
'96: SMU 23 @Ark 10 (finished 5-6)
'97: SMU 31 Ark 9 @ Shreveport; (finished 6-5, only winning season
since DP. Cavan's first year - Rossley's team.)
Now if Rice has a winning record and is contending for a bowl then maybe this is a different matter. What does Texas Football predict for Rice?
They pick Rice at 5-7, no bowl.

If they say 5-7 for the Owls, I'd put my money on 0-12 or 12-0.

I say Rice picks up 3 or less wins, in a disappointing fashion. I might be biased?

I wish we were playing them earlier in the season. By the last game of the year, they will be as good as they are gonna get with a new offense.

Rice probably has the most difficult out of conference schedule in the country. After starting with crosstown rival Houston, they are at UCLA, then come home to play TEXAS, and next at FLORIDA STATE. GOOD LUCK.

Most of whom will be injured by the time we play them, judging from the schedule discussed above.
