Good luck SMU

Postby LTBear » Sun Jun 25, 2006 1:51 pm

Just thought I'd drop by and let you know that there are people outside of the SMU program excited about y'alls upcoming season as well. Lots of people at Baylor will be rooting for the Mustangs, partially because we, to a great degree, understand the torment you've been through and because we have a large group of students fromt he Dallas area. Lookin' forward to seein' you in a bowl game this year!

Oh, and I don't mean that as a knock against your current affiliation.

Thanks for the support LTBear. We're hoping Baylor can finally have a successful season in the Big 12, and get to a bowl.

I love your signature by the way. Wish we could play you guys every year!

Ya, I miss annual games against SMU and TCU. The Holy Wars were great. I started using that sig before our game last year.

Which, while I'm here, let me commend SMU on a very nice stadium and very nice fans. While some of the frat daddies aren't quite my thing, everyone was friendly and respectful.

And good luck to you guys also! Wouldn't that be something if both SMU and Baylor got to a bowl game? That'd be great for this area no doubt.

I think it is possible, and would be a lot of fun if it did, that Baylor and SMU could end up playing each other in a bowl. I really don't think it's beyond reality. The Big XII has more sway in the bowl tie-ins, so 6 wins should get us to a bowl. SMU, on the other had, really has a chance to win more games than BU this year (I think 8 is attainable) and a 8 win SMU team could very well play a 6 win BU team. Like TCU playing ISU last year. Superior team from smaller conferance plays decent team from larger conferance. Sure would be fun. The Gucci Bowl!

PS, I'm planning on making one SMU game this year. Any advice on which would be a good choice?

Here is a link to our schedule.

The Houston game might be a good one, just to keep it in the family so to speak. Marshall could be interesting as could UAB. It sort of depends on where we are later in the season in regards to wins and losses as to how interesting the game may be. Of course if you want to wear your Green attire, you might want to wander up to Denton to watch that game, but I think a game at Ford would be a better choice.

Speaking of Houston, someone told me today Coach Bill Clay, from Bobby Collins SMU Staff, has become the Defensive Coordinator at UH ??? Coach Clay was recently at Oklahoma State for several years with Les Miles. I hate to here he is at UH. He is a great Coach.
