Better coverage, better athletic-teams, better academic-schools: The Mountain West Conference.
Hardly.
coverage
you have your obscure little tv network which most cable companies do not even offer at all, or they bury your channel deep in the 200's where nobody can even find them. Football games are played on thursday night or on sundays because no one will watch them any other time.
athletic teams -
MWC - every team in the league finished 6-5 or worse, except for one. You know, the same "champion" that lost to SMU
CUSA - 3 teams with 8 wins
BBall
MWC - when unlv is your 4th best team, you know you suck. Only two postseason qualifiers, and no ranked teams at all. No postseason wins at all. ZERO.
CUSA - multiple postseason teams and two nationally ranked teams, including #4 nationally ranked memphis
baseball -
MWC - one bid conference, and that was strictly the autobid. You suck.
CUSA - elite perenially ranked programs like Rice and Tulane
academics - some good and bad in both leagues. unlv, colorado state and wyoming are hardly bastions of higher learning. Certainly not on par with Rice, Tulane, SMU, and Tulsa.
The Mountain West conference is a joke. It is in a black hole of a time zone that gets no media coverage. TCU was stupid for packing up all of its sports teams just to get what they THOUGHT was going to be a little better football competition.
