Local teams? The Cowboys, Mavs, Rangers and Stars get plenty of coverage. If you're talking about one particular local college's teams, I think they need makeovers dedicated to performing on the field and court in a manner worthy of newspaper coverage first. Until then, what we get is what we deserve.

From the Dallas Business Journal

They are offering employees 2 weeks of base pay for every year up to 15 years.

They are offering employees 3 weeks of base pay for every year beyond 15 years.

What a cheap offer!!! Take about 25 percent off for taxes and you don't have much. They are hoping 85 people will take it or else it will be layoffs.

They are also offering a lump sum of one year for Cobra coverage.

Talk about a paper with no direction.

So, don't believe the hype. SportsDay will have its share of people leaving, but 30 would be ridiculous.

Then again, they might shrink it down to 30 people, and then just run all the press releases from the UT Sports Information Dept. to fill in the rest.

might want to go with lay-off,,, L word by itself might imply other meaning...........

Sounds like something those cheapskates at the Bevo Corporation would do, doesn't it?

I haven't read him since I left Dallas. I feel he tries to be like Dave Barry, and I loathe the original. I just don't like anecdotal columns about urban/suburban life. I thought I would relate to that crap more when I was married, etc., but I just don't.

He's great too. Too bad he has to cover the Horns. But on the plus side, he does get to live in Austin.
