I question the common sense of anybody who truly thinks featuring SMU sports would sell more papers in the metroplex than featuring UT sports.
Hey, they may as well try it.

What they're doing ain't workin', now is it??
Another 130 layoffs coming, right?

Like I've said, what ever would they do if they had any competition?

I've never said cover SMU INSTEAD of Texas, anyway.
Just give their place as the hometown team.

Mr. Hurst,

I am the college editor. (Your email) was forwarded to me.

Thanks for taking the time to write us. It helps shape our coverage. We were certainly aware of the SMU kickoff luncheon to which you refer. As a rule, you have not seen us do much with any of the college luncheons.

I told you thay did not cover anybody's "luncheon."
Read between the lines...he says "you have not seen us do much"...he's left himself some wiggle room there for exceptions. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that the next time U.T. or A&M has a 'lunch' or 'dinner' with the head coach present and/or some famous alum in Dallas, it will be in the DMN.

The mention of U.T.'s scrimmage 250 miles away from Dallas today and NO MENTION WHATSOEVER OF S.M.U.'S SCRIMMAGE TODAY is totally unacceptable.

I encourage EVERYONE on this board who gives a damn (so that's not you, jt and Stallion) to WRITE and CALL DMN Assistant Sports Editor Mark Konradi at the following and let him know your displeasure:

Instead of betting your breakfast why don't you link to the DMN articles on the UT and A&M kickoff lunches and bring some proof to your allegations. And if you think I don't give a damn about SMU you can kiss my @ss, bearkat.

Mercy, calm down down there fella! 1965 may have attended SHS, but I wish SMU had more die hard, passionate fans like him! That guy bleeds red and blue, everything he says or does, is to HELP the Mustang cause! Go ask Phil Bennett about Mustang1965.

UT has not yet had its Dallas area kick-off lunch.

I believe that you DO give a damn about SMU. The 'give a damn' comment was about SMU getting better sports coverage in the Dallas Morning News, not whether you give a damn or not about SMU itself. From your previous posts on this forum, you appear to not care one way or another whether SMU sports get better coverage in the DMN because, in your opinion, the Mustangs have done nothing to warrant such coverage. Right?

My mistake, then. I get a little po'd when people thnk because I can take a realistic view of what is placed before me I don't care about SMU. And all I ever said about the paper is SMU gets the coverage it warrants. I'd love for SMU to warrant more coverage by its performance on the field and the court, but right now it gets exactly what is warranted.

Since your opinion is obviously different, why don't you tell us all what SMU has done on the field or court in the last twenty years to deserve more coverage.
