NICE CROWD AT SCRIMMAGE.... butthe QB play looked fair at best. I saw only one deep ball all night which was under thrown and intercepted by freshman CB Mc Cann. The defense looked pretty good with the secondary playing much better than I expected. Overall team speed appears to have improved. Mapps will be a good running back.
Re: NICE CROWD AT SCRIMMAGE.... but
I think theres a reason for that...It's called open to the public aka Texas Tech scouts. ![]()
Re: NICE CROWD AT SCRIMMAGE.... butQUOTE "Mustang 35SMU"I think theres a reason for that...It's called open to the public aka Texas Tech scouts. Well I realize that but on the play the receiver had beaten the freshman CB by several yards and the ball was so under thrown the CB was able to recover and make the interception. I realize you don't want to show much but I think the quarterback was obviously trying to complete that pass . Being that was the only deep ball I saw and we haven't had a decent deep passing game in years, I guess we can conclude the TECH SCOUTS think that we still cannot throw deep this year either.
Re: NICE CROWD AT SCRIMMAGE.... but
Maybe that's a good thing? ![]() ![]() I remember atleast one more but I understand what you're saying. And agree that the pass was underthrown. ![]()
One key to the season is the fact that we have our best group of recievers in years and our QB's appear yo have more talent than most recent players, with the exception of maybe Jared Romo. So we have got get our Deep Passing game going this year to really be effective and have a chance to compete in the Conference Championship.
If the goal of the game was to make the scouting team think we are horrible, mission accomplished.
The only bright side was our kicking. We are going to need it! QB was flat pathetic. Could not complete a 5 yard pass. We are going to get destroyed at Tech. Took the wind right out of my sails. DBB

Wow. So, on Friday I predict a surprisingly well attended scrimmage and today there are at least ten posts commenting on the size of the crowd. Interesting. Ouch. Sprained my shoulder patting myself on the back.
Willis completed 16 five to eight yarders for nearly 160 out of 23 attempts. If he throws 40 a game we get at least 300 yards passing which sets up Demyron, and company for 150 - 200 rushing on an average to below average day.
