Mustang Club New Orleans trip

Postby PonySoprano » Mon Aug 21, 2006 4:18 pm

The Mustang Club has come out with the details for the New Orleans trip that they have put together. I know several of us are planning on going down for the game, so I just thought I'd pass this along if you haven't gotten the info.

It looks like you can either go for all the "all inclusive" trip (everything listed below is included), or you can choose "a la carte" (I the "a la carte" costs are listed in parentheses)

o American Airlines leaving DFW Friday, September 29 at 12:55p to New Orleans at 2:20p. and
leaving New Orleans Sunday, October 1 at 3:00p to DFW at 4:35p ($250 pp)
o Bus Transportation for the weekend to all locations ($30)
o Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights at the Windsor Court
o (Guest Room $440, Junior Suite $460, Suite $520)
o Pre-Game [deleted] tail Reception Saturday - 5:30 – 7:30p at Mother’s Next Door Restaurant ($40)
o SMU vs. Tulane Football Game ($32)
**Single Occ. All Inclusive Package – Guest Room $800, Junior Suite $825, Suite $875
**Double Occ. All Inclusive Package – Guest Room $1150, Junior Suite $1175, Suite $1230
**Individual Event Tickets or Ground Only Packages can be purchased

I had previously booked a hotel room at a different hotel, so I think I will be going with the individual tickets for the different events, but I might try to schedule the same flights as listed above.

I was in NO earlier this summer (I also have a sister and worthless brother in law there). NO is the best I have ever seen it. There are no crowds, people were actually friendly and there were not the usual bums lying in the street in their own human waste. It didn't stink and was actually clean. The good restaurants in the Quarter were open. Some of the shops are only open on weekends. All in all, the best trip to NO I have had since I was a college kid.

This may be a great time to see this city. Les filth and less bums and people that actual want to see visitors in their city. The restaurants out in Bucktown are full steam ahead (and you can see the changes being made to the infamous canal.

I am kind of holding out on the game tickets. I am hoping that Tulane will offer some kind of deal closer to the date.

No kidding. Thanks for including all your younger members in the opportunity Mustang Club. My hotel is $95/night in the quarter. Look around folks, there are lodging bargains to be had.

To this end I'm hoping Thadfilms and I will have a venue to host the 'unofficial' festivities during that weekend lined up in the next week or so. I'll keep everyone posted.

To be fair, I believe that is lodging for two nights, still it is steep. The wife and I got a good balcony deal for a lot less than that.

Wife and I will be arriving in New Orleans from Florida on Friday. Can some of you suggest a decent hotel in the Quarter for around $100-$150 a night?

Try Le Pavillion or Hotel Intercontinental, which are both about a block or two from the Quarter. The Hilton at the Riverwalk is also nice and not too pricey--it's also across the street from Harrah's.

FYI--I'll be going to the game, so keep us all informed about any unofficial tailgating spots.
