All that said, the receivers don't get open, the system gets them open.
It isn't the system. If it were, BYU would have more than just the one NC. It is the coaching staff. Leach really is a good coach. His position coaches are pretty good too. The players trust the coaches and on game day, everyone knows exactly what to do and there is no selfishness because everyone gets their opportunity.

It isnt the system???? are you saying that Kingsbury, Symons and last years QB would have led the nation in passing at another school?

PonySoprano, no. That is the definition of a well coached O.

mustangnation, that isn't what either one of are saying. Yes this system leads to a lot of passing and receiving yards, just like Tom Osborne and Darrell Royal's O systems led to a lot of rush yards. You wouldn't say all those great RBs and option QBs were products of the system. No. I am not saying we are at that talent level yet. Just making an obvious point.

You are going to get a look at what I am talking about the next couple of years as Baylor rolls out this scheme. They aren't going to have the same scheme without the same success. Look at Mumme's career since Leach took the OU OC job.

You are right "GoRedGoBlue" Sure, Tech has several talented receivers to replace Hicks & Crabtree but in their system , timing and coordination are so important. Now whether that causes any dropoff remains to be seen since Coach Leach, like him or not, is a genius at developing his offense. As for Hicks, he has super talent and has been one of the top receivers in the country the past two years. Hopefully for him, he will probably be a top draft choice someday.

Hicks is one of Tech's best so this is definitely good news for the Ponies. He burned us a couple years ago in Ford as a sophomore. He really seemed to have very natural talent and great speed. He also made a big catch in the Cotton Bowl. I agree that they're still loaded at receiver but this only helps.
