hard to say what Martin would have done, but playing a freshman qb was extremely risky all along. this season was in peril the minute they gave up on Phillips and couldnt get a high profile juco. Our only hope right now is that willis can grow by leaps and bounds as the season goes by.

The only way Willis can grow ANY is to let him play.

The offense used three plays. Yes that is to make a point.

If we do not open the playbook....
Willis will not develop
The D will be dead tired
SMU will loss.

That is our problem in my eyes. I also do not understand the blocking scheme. Man up Dudes and push someone.

See you at PB's lunch.

I don't understand our play calling either. We never tried to throw down field unless it was 3rd and 15. I understand they are trying to protect a young QB, but let him learn and grow. By trying to keep us from losing they are not putting us in a position to win. Would like to see how different the play calling was between the UTEP game and the UNT game.

agree 100%. Willis might be our guy, but he has to be allowed to make mistakes. Let him throw some interceptions, that will mean he is learning and probably also making some plays.
[so yes our non conf schedule DOES NOT MATTER.. we could go 4-0 in non conf and then go 2-6 in conf and be "bowl eligible" at 6-6...But we would probably not be invited to a bowl b/c our attendence would not be enticing to any bowl..
Losing to UNT and finishing 6-6 will not get you a bowl.

That loss just upped the ante. It will now take a solid 8 or 9 wins.

I did not say we would make a bowl.. I said at 6-6, technically we would be bowl eligible...
