I have figured out that the one thing we really need is divine intervention from the football gods. Notre Dame plays earlier in the day so they will have time to give us some attention for once.
Starting tonight and up until game time (except while I am driving in to Dallas) I am going to pray non-stop for one particular aspect of the game.
My prayer will be for competent officiating.
Okay, now every reader of this post needs to pick a particular aspect of the game no one else has already chosen and commit to praying for it.
We're desperate...and it can't hurt.
I HATE the University of Texas!

Should start out something like this:

Dear 8lb 5 oz Baby Jesus,
Please let SMU play better than the Division I-AA school they are playing tomorrow.

Coaches, they are sick. They cannot call deep ball. Short ball they call it very much. Longball, coaches are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from coaches. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.

I pray for more media coverage of SMU football. I also pray that Belo begins to cover local stories, instead of running AP on everything.
Willis to slot receiver!

I will pray for a LARGE cash donation to the athletic department so that Orsini can bring us a big name coach!

I pray for a down field pass, and the I formation with a QB under center and no more tricked up %@*&%^$&@# high school offense. Oops - not real good prayer content.

Now that the game is over and we won, I will reveal my true prayer: that our coaches would not coach and would let the kids just go out and play ball.
Behold, non-believers, the POWER OF PRAYER.
P.S. the power of the big-10 pales in comparison.

I would like to personally thank Jobu for accepting my gifts of rum and cigars and allowing the fear to be taken from the coaches to call the deep pass. I just hope that the requirement for rum and cigars doesn't escalate into something more serious.
