LeVias, Fry, 1989 Team, Turf & Posters

This may be 'old news'...but I'll post anyway, just in case it's not. I got word this past Saturday from a 'top ranking official' at SMU that Jerry LeVias will be honored for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the Oklahoma State game on Saturday, September 20 at Ford Stadium in Dallas. (This will not be 'officially' announced for several more weeks.)

Plans are still 'in the works' to bring back former head football coach Hayden Fry to also be honored for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. And there's also an effort underway to bring back the members of the 1989 Mustang football team for recognition at a game this season.

The 'old' turf at Ford has been removed and the 'new' turf should be installed by mid-July, in plenty of time for the players when they return in August.

I was in Dallas for the past two weeks and saw the football posters at Bubba's and other businesses around the campus. I took one to Kuby's German Restaurant in Snider Plaza. I've also got a handful of the posters (I LOVE the new ad slogan: "Blazing a Trail of Tradition" with Doak Walker and Keylon Kincaide pictured on it!) and wallet schedules to pass out in Houston! If you see the poster, the new 'white jerseys' are the 'road uniforms' and the new 'dark jerseys' are the 'home uniforms'. The dark jerseys will go with silver pants. The white jerseys will go with dark pants. The helmets remain the same 'new dark blue'! GREAT LOOKING!
