This latest debacle is right up there with the Ole Miss collapse at the Cotton Bowl during the Cavan years, Malin-Gate, TCU-Collapse 1997, NTSU loss, and many other "low" points we continually surpass. I'm not opposed to investigating the incident or punishing Willis - last I checked he missed a game - but why hasn't this situation been wrapped up? You cannot tell me that an off campus fight in which no one was arrested or seriously injured warrants more than a one game suspension. I'm not asking for heads to roll, I'm just asking for this thing to be resolved. I'm incredibly pissed at the situation and hope others with bigger checkbooks than mine are similarly outraged and have let Orsini and Turner know it. No other school we play, let alone the BCS conference schools, would be dragging their feet on this non-event like SMU has. Now that Texas/OU weekend is over and Eagles/Cowboys has concluded, prepare for the DMN to start running with this story. Would have been a non-event had they sat Willis for a game, and reinstated him by lunch today.

I have no idea if anything is even close to being resolved, but I doubt you will be the first to know. It could be that the Willis's are waiting for some proaction before they are ready to say it is resolved. Relax. If you can not do anything to settle the situation you will live a lot longer by letting those that can handle it. Many officials (be it primarily Feds) were off work today. That could also have come into play. And I bet that Willis got lunch today. I do not think that was part of the suspension.

I'm trying to relax, but it's been pretty tough today. In my opinion, spreading the word that we believe the school needs to move on and reinstate Willis is a productive use of my time. I'm not asking to hear details of what happened or be the first to know anything - the Daily Campus is doing a fine job of giving us the details. What I'm saying is that based on the facts being reported, Willis has been punished enough already and it's time to end the suspension. I wholeheartedly support the email campaign to Orsini and everything else everyone is doing.

Let Willis Play, Let Willis Play, Let Willis Play, Let Willis Play (think Bad News Bears sequel at the Astrodome for reference).
