Alvin Nnabuife's Record Broken

Postby MrMustang1965 » Fri Oct 13, 2006 11:39 am

Cory Giddings, a freshman defensive back from Ocean Township, made history last Saturday for Stony Brook during a 33-21 victory over Albany. Giddings became the first player in NCAA Division 1-A and 1-AA history to return three fumbles in a game. No one had returned two fumbles for touchdowns in a game since Alvin Nnabuife of Southern Methodist University in 2004. Giddings returned the first fumble seven yards for a TD with 10:52 left in the second quarter and then picked up another loose ball and raced 34 yards for a TD with 3:50 left in the half. In the second half, he snuffed out an Albany drive when he scooped up his third fumble.

Proud to say I saw Nnabuife's record-setting performance in 2004.

What a great day that was for Alvin, and a solid win over a solid Nevada team.

Congratulations to this Giddings guy, I suppose, but we all know he's no Alvin Nnabuife!
