I don't remember SMU putting an asterix after our victory over TCU or UTEP last year because their best players Robert Merrill and Tyler Ebell missed those games and I don't remember you pointing out that UTEP lost its best defensive player an All-Conference caliber LB the week before the UTEP game this year. Rah! Rah! Rah! SMU was the better team although we were inept and incompetent for much of the game. No team that gets 7 First Downs and gives up 3 times that amount of First Downs can claim that it was the better team.Go Ponies!
Everyone lets just face fact, this SMU team is capable of being a bowl team.
However like people have said, the UNT has haunted us all year and could very well be a deciding fact if PB is not back next year. With 3 home games out of the last 4, we are very capable of going to a bowl. Tuesdays game will decide the future of this team. A win will put us one step closer to the postseason but a loss means its done, time to evaluate the young talent we have and play for respect. You cannot win close games if you do not play COMPLETE games. That is something SMU has not done all year. For 60 straight mins we have not played 100%. When your running game isn't working and your D cannot stop as pass in the secondary you don't deserve to win. No looking back because the future is NOW. UAB on tuesday is the game of the year. A win and this team has a chance.
UTEP beat us down about as bad as SMU beat down Stallion's position with the university a while back.

My comments relate to whether SMU is "bowl material" or not. As such I threw out factors realting to the nature of our team. I was not trying to say we were better or should have won particular games but that with our roster and even coaching we may be considered better than our current record and as much bowl material as may other teams that will be in bowls.
Of course we will need to win two or three game for this to even matter. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
This is easy.
If we win 3 out of 4 to close the season, we will have to beat at least one team who has a good chance to go to a bowl (Houston or Tulsa). We will go to a bowl and deserve to be there. If not, we will be .500, probably be beaten by the two teams that become bowl eligible, and don't deserve a bowl game. It is easy as that.
