SMU Football Blog wrote:BRStang wrote:Blog, I don't like the way you state your OPINIONS sometimes. Sometimes you dismiss out of hand various scenarios and convey your opinions as if they are pseudo-facts. I don't think you can say for a FACT that we won't bring many fans. You need to consider different scenarios. I suppose that happens when you go in-house rather than litigate.
If I came across as dismissing your opinion, I apologize, I didn't and certainly didn't intend to come across as if I did. Obviously, it is just my opinion and it isn't worth more than anybody else's. However, I try to have informed opinions and I like to think I am pretty even keel. You are right in that there are people that can only get to Dallas or Ford once a year and will move mountains to go to a bowl game. I just don't think there are thousands of those people. Nearly everything on here and on the blog is opinion; I just don't think I need to preface every sentence with "In my opinion, ..." In fact, I was making a conscious effort to stop it as I have tried to improve my writing. For the record, I did say, "I think..."
Blog, you're a good guy. And I know you write a lot about this stuff (which I appreciate), and it could get very cumbersome to read "in my opinion" in every sentence. I just thought I'd make you aware of a little observation I've made on only a few of your posts. And that observation is my opinion by the way.
For the record, I think your posts are probably the most substantive and well-reasoned on this board. I appreciate your interest in SMU and your willingness to provide free information to people like me who aren't tied into all the SMU/Dallas happenings. Keep it up!

You're welcome. And, by the way, my comments do NOT apply to the completely a$$inine posts some people (perhaps including me) make on this site. For those, feel free to let it fly.

It can be the Boise Bowl, the Football Colada Bowl (or whatever the bowl is in Hawaii that University of Hawaii just accepted a bid -- already -- to play in) or the Orance Bowl, or any other bowl. I'm there, and bringing a crowd.
And why does Hawaii get to play in its home stadium every year? If they have a good team, shouldn't they be forced to fly across the country to a bowl like everyone else?

HMMMMMM. Just pathetic,huh.
Isn't it nice we can talk, discuss, opinionate, opine and converse about getting more fans out and getting fans to a bowl game. I think I missed reading these posts during the past 20 or so years. Nice to at least think there could be a light somewhere near the end of the tunnel. Just hope that the last 3 games will not show that light to be a train coming at us head on.

I am just enjoying the stimulating coversation that this virtual Algonquin Roundtable is able to provide on such ethereal topics as SMU-Which bowl game will bring us the most fans.

Swamp Gas: the Hawaii bowl would not exist if Hawaii didn't qualify to host that game most years. Plenty of schools have made that trip along with 2-3,000 or their most hard core fans. When Hawaii doesn't play, that game looks like Ford Stadium for a CUSA game

I was going to let this die, but I'll provide an update. I have to admit, I was too harsh on Blog. I misinterpreted his post. My fault. When I reread my original post, I realized that he was simply answering my question when he stated, "Actually, No." I originally interpreted the "Actually, No" to mean, "Actually, you're wrong..." about an opinion. I pm'd Blog last night to apologize.
