Dear RBs: Put Your Head Down and RUN!

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sat Nov 11, 2006 8:47 pm

Please, please, please...just put your head down and RUN THE BALL! I just don't understand this jumping around, stutter stepping, stopping, dancing around, etc. when you get the ball. Follow your blockers. Tuck that mother in and RUN THE BALL! Thank you.

I agree they hesitate, Usually has a lot to do with the offensive line getting stuffed right in their face too.

Maybe they're too small to do that, or still hurtin, and scared a little.

Actually maybe running from a power I, T, or wishbone formation on third, and one would give me more condifence that we offensively know what we're doing.

Not to hate on our backs becuase I think they are great guys/athletes but the do a lot of tippy toeing and not running into the whole. Sure the o-line mite not make a hole every down but they are more of finesse backs. We need a power back that will take the hit. Martin with injuries can't do that as well.

Plain and simple, it shows of lack of confidence in their O-line. Not that I don't share that lack of confidence. Great job with pass protection, but don't ask them to open a frickin hole to run through.

You hit hard anyway. It happens way too much, especially on short yardage situations. It's stupid.

We have had 3 major 4th down and shorts in the past 4 games and run the same play (for a loss) every time. This has me baffled. We have a 220 lb. running back that should be able to run for 1/2 yard but we keep pitching to a scat back who dances for a 2 yard loss. I would like to know who is calling the play during the time out that has been called each time to discuss the options.

Remember Bennett in his last press conference alluding to the possibility of more options for 3rd/4th and short?

I wonder what happened. HA.
