Oh, and by the way, the 530 was the first time he took the test.
I almost tripled his score the first time I took it. Almost being a relative word.
i got a 1501.

Was the test harder in 1978? Or was it easier? I think the top score then was 1200 or 1600?

i would like to see more posts of first hand insight like this. i know some of the history of our transgressions still rankles some, but there is nothing like history from an eyewitness to bolster the depth of understanding. its just interesting. more! more!

If LT moved his SAT score from a 530 to a qualifying score of even 700, someone else took that test for him. It is damn near impossible to move your score 100 points let alone 170 even if you spend every waking hour studying vocab words and working problems. I doubt LT carried around vocabulary cards studying them............

Sorry that SMU missed out on a great player and a very good, humble role model. I'd be bitter too if we passed on great players because our admissions office doesn't work with these athletes.

Is there a difference between your admissions office and a funnel? I'm proud to have and wear my TCU SUCKS t-shirt!!

My son took it a a JR in high school and got a 950. Atfer we sent him to SMU study skills class and then had EEG biofeedback therapy, he took it again as a senior, and he made an 1160.
He has ADD and is dyslexic ( sp)

SAT scores can be improved, but generally a 100 point jump is the exception rather than the rule. Many ADD kids are that way because they are extremely smart and have a short attention span because their minds work so fast. Many of those kids score way higher than their GPA's on standardized tests. That's part of how they diagnose the disease.
