Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee?Surely, SMU will not agree with Benson and his proposed $5 million fee to exit the WAC.
Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee? That has to be a joke. What are the big conference exit fees? One, maybe two million. You would think that anybody that has even considered the possiblity of leaving wouldn't agree to that. SMU, Rice, Tulsa, Fresno, Boise, have all been mentioned with other conferences.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Re: Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee?It will be a graduated exit fee... $5MM this year, $4MM next, etc...
They need the agreement in order to steal others...others wouldn't want to join the WAC if the WAC implodes by the MWC stealing FSU or BSU, or UH...
Re: Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee? This is where the fine print will really come into play. I would agree to it, IF AND ONLY IF, TCU, Houston and/or Tulane (2/3) agree to join the WAC within 2 years. Otherwise, I would not agree to it. I think FSU, Hawaii and others should make theirs equally contingent upon UNLV and SDS or NMSU joining the WAC. I wouldn't mind the WAC if we can get the travel down to one western trip per year, and only have to see SJS in Dallas every six years.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee?Risking $4 or 5 million is tough, but so is the prospect of ending up in the Sun Belt. Thats what it comes down to. As a fan, I'd like to see SMU buy this insurance policy. Quite selfishly, thats because its not my money. If Turner and company feel good about our prospects for CUSA, maybe you roll the dice and vote no because you will need to pay entry fees to CUSA. If Turner does not believe we are the leading candidate in CUSA's future plans, we simply have to buy Benson's $5 million insurance policy and work to keep the WAC in place.
Re: Will SMU agree on WAC exit fee?Looks like desperation on Bensons part. he can't make you do it after the fact. My guess is the WAC as we know it is doomed. I think there are bigger and better things ahead for SMU....nobody stays down or up forever...it has always been a cycle. many of us can remember the Mike Ford days when both SMU and the Coogs were parked in the Top 20. I'd like to see that again.
