Bennett said he wanted to compete for a championship his first year, and that every time he goes to the stadium, he expects to win. I wouldn't have any other attitude from my coach, and I'm glad Coach Bennett feels that way.
All I know is what he said at this past week's press conference, I wasn't even around SMU when he came here.

He's probably taken the program as far as he can. He has built a strong foundation for Orsini's hire. After all, change is the nature of the college coaching game (coaches don't plant pecan trees). After earning his BA degree, he's coached at A&M, Purdue, Iowa State, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU, A&M, Kansas State and MacArthur High School... so he has Worldwide Van Lines on his speed dial. He'll end up with a better job than the one he has at SMU so you gotta be glad for that. Hopefully, the new coach here will pick up where he left off and take the program to the next level.

I hope he stays. I think he can take us where we want to go. Now lets concentrate on Rice.

I am afraid the NTU game will linger in too many minds...PB's included.

He had better stay one more year to redeem himself for that one

end of subject -
if you want to 'blame', go after the administration, board & pye, they created this mess by 'downgrading' football & not wanting to compete -
'decisions' & 'leadership' start at the top, not the middle & any of you lamebrains that work in any organization should know that -
you guys are killing me -
now let's talk about something that is now worthwhile & has value -
talking about this %^^%$ before a big game & a season we haven't seen in 10 to 20 years!!!
what a joke!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I think Bennett is a great guy. But Bennett is also a college football coach. If you think you can trust everything he says, you are incredibly naive.

If that's your idea of independent verification, then you believe the CIA, Cubans, FBI and the mob all conspired to assassinate Kennedy. When the DMN or Des Moines Register breaks something, then we've got something to talk about. This might be one of the worst sources to adhere to. These "insiders" do not have the credibility as beat writers do. And read this guy's list of candidates. He's using more rationale behind why he thinks this guy would be a good fit. Sounds like NBC's Andrea's Kramer, "Some of the 49ers told me...'' I'm not suggesting Bennett and the ISU AD haven't talked because of their connection. But this was the same thing as the KSU job. He's going to have a hard time selling Phil's record. Steve Kragthorpe is easier, CUSA title last year, Liberty bowl win over Fresno. Another bowl game this year. That could change if we get to a bowl because he will be known as the guy who turned SMU around. But Phil would be lower on the list. This will not happen. P.S. I wish the author of this posting could actually use some punctuation when writing instead of using run on sentences. Absolutely poor grammar.
Wisconsin beat two (2) teams with winning records - they are 11-1
Michigan beat two ranked teams - ND and Wisconsin
Ohio state beat an overranked Texas team and a questionably ranked Michigan team...
