If Phil stays, will Orsini make him at least get rid of Burns and Gush?

For the record, I also have never advocated the firing of an SMU coach.

Ok, give Phil one more year and provide him the resources to win

I have been impressed with the BB hire, the marketing hire and now want to be impressed with his decision on the football team. I am not anti Bennett in any way and think we could continue to move in a positve direction but there well may be something better out there. Go luck Mr. Orsini. Show us what you have got. And please do not get any ideas from those of us on ponyfans that think we know more than you.

Mrydel, I bet if you put the football minds of all 28 of us on here together, you'd have a pretty good special teams coach.

Special teams coach? Did you mean "Special Ed Coach"?

Yeah, and maybe we can "level the playing field" for him, too. Maybe Todd Graham can come and mow his lawn for him.

SMU is not going to get that type of coach so we need to work on the admin and others first. We are no longer the pay for play Mustangs

Keep PB. If you dump him now, the program is only getting worse. We're not going to get anyone better at this point, so you keep him and re-hire coordinators. Especially the offense. Dumping PB would just put this program back on the bottom as it will take several more years to turn it around all over again. Hes not the best coach but hes doing a good enough job. If SMU can play a complete game for once, limit their mistakes, and fix either their O or D, then they'd be a contender.

I have to disagree. I think we've got the ability to build now on what PB has done. I just think PB has done as much as he can. We need a total ball coach. I think with PB we only remain stagnant for another year, which could further jeopardize whatever strides he's made. No other program in the country with a commitment to winning would keep PB around for another year.
