For those that dont live in Dallas......

Postby Special_Delivery_Smu_Fans » Sun Nov 26, 2006 6:24 pm

For those of you outside of Dallas that don't see the Dallas Morning News everyday, here is the pic that was on page one of the Dallas Morning News collge sports section today. But it was a much, much larger picture in the newspaper.

Image

SMU coach Phil Bennett winces in pain while being helped off the field at halftime by a team trainer and his son, Sam (59). Bennett was hurt after a sideline collision in the second quarter, but returned to coach the second half.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Wow. That's the same expression I had on my face when I realized we lost the game, yesterday. Go figure.

Bennett stayed on the sidelines for the second half. Joe Paterno didn't. 'Nuff said!

Joe Paterno is like 80-something years old and is one of the most winningest coaches ever in the history of the NCAA. Phil Bennett has never had a season above .500 and can't score on 1st and goal from the 1 with a mulligan.

My wife's first reaction when seeing the picture with the headline "HEARTBREAKER" above it was "did he have a heart attack during the game?" From all the yelling I was doing at the broadcast, it wasn't too far of a stretch.

J-Will

Postby bigdaddy08091 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 7:13 pm

This is not funny people. We are talking about a MAN who has dedicated his time and effort to this community and football program and will continue to do so for hopefully a long time. We need to embrace what we have in Bennett and tell the world what type of insitution we have at SMU! Get the recruits on campus and they will stay. I was just on campus with Brian McCann, J-Will and Patrick Handy. Man, what a feeling to be on that campus. Tell the world about SMU and what it has to offer and stop the hating. Drink milk not hateraide. Milk does the body good!
