Apparently so... Stallion wrote:Look Phil Bennett has had a walk on the beach compared with what Gregg, Rossley and Cavan had to endure.
To a certain extent you are correct, but the first year or two was not all that much better...Bennett has had to work for that "walk on the beach". I'm not certain Cavan was willing to put that much effort into it.

How do you know that? Rossley went 5-7 in the same conference the prior year. What would he have suddenly done differently that would have made them that much better?
Rossley went 5-6 (3 plays away from 8-3), Ramon would have started the entire year instead of benching him for Sanders off-and-on throughout the year.
Cavan was arguably 3 plays from 8-4 in 1998, what's your point? There is no evidence that definitively proves that we would have been better than 6-5 in 1997 .

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

It is rediculous that it is dragging out like this. "Class-less" may be an understatement if Bennett is retained after this ordeal - unless he's trying to buy him out. Personally, for me, they should keep Phil.
If it comes out that he's only here for another year, we might as well kiss next season away. What recruit would come to a school where his coach will be there for only one year?
In the eyes of the recruits, the players & whoever else out there that's associated with the program as well as any sane or competent manager who leads employees, it's a very negative way of handling your business. Orsini is already screwing up on the job by just dragging this circus out another day -- & another day. Not a good sign of his management style.
Makes you wonder that no matter who we put in the athletic dept., they jinx the program that much more!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
