We should petition the NCAA to make women's erotic dancing a sport. That one sport might make Title IX worth it. Lord knows Dallas would be a recruiting hotbed for that.
"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."
We'd get the DP because too many people would be throwing money at them all over the place.
Coach Wollman put together a team a few years back that basically consisted of a bunch of walking Scandinavian Coke machines who could toss the shot and discus into Central Expressway .... and didn't they finish third (or something) at the NCAA Championships?
I almost wish i hadn't even read this thread, Title IX p1isses me off so bad. It is a f*cking joke.
No reason to repeat the myriad of reasons you guys have already pointed out, but the fact that SMU does not have baseball or Men's Track and Field is absolutely disgraceful. The fact that women's archery, horse jumping, or rowing...even women's basketball or track...are sports while we don't have a baseball team or men's track and field team makes me want to get violent. I have never, ever heard a good argument for Title IX and honestly I wish someone could give me one so I could turn down the burners on my frustration about it. So if anyone out there can tell me some good things about Title IX I would really appreciate it. Can't we give girls scholarships for cheerleading, dance team, band??? M-I-S-E-R-A-B-L-E Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.
They got fourth. and one of those Coke Machines was a kid from South Texas....they also had two high jumpers
did SMU ever have a good baseball team? We played in my day...and stunk. I'd love to see baseball (and softball) at SMU, but do it right or don't do it at all. Just finding (buying the overpriced land adjacent to the campus) a site on which to build the facility rules out the possibility of it happening in my lifetime. That is, of course, unless one of you billionaires out there wants to endow the program.
Economical at least. Build the Taj Mahal of college baseball. Cost would be a rounding error for a 100 seat stadium, which would more than accomodate anything after the first day crowd.
Make sure some of the money allocated for the stadium is placed in an escrow account to help pay for the electricity. Gate receipts won't cut it. It may not be the slowest game, but not that many understand chess.
Third in Outdoor 1999 Third in Outdoor 2002 Fourth in Outdoor 2004 and I know there was a Third place finish in indoors sometime in 2000-2003
Sorry, Soprano. Houston has Dallas beat in that category. No contest.
