Throw in Mike Stoops, John Gruden and Randy Shannon...This thing just isn't getting clear.
Apparently the job was Leach's but he bombed his interview

It's time for Gary Patterson to show if he is really as great a coach as everybody thinks he is.
He's kind of got a similar personality to Butch Davis. And Davis restored the program's integrity.

Here is what the Miami Herald is reporting when it came to Leach..
.... Dee spoke with Texas Tech coach Mike Leach on Monday, and, according to a person close to Texas Tech and the coaching situation, told Leach he would get back to him by Friday at the earliest....

Rodriguez has the Alabama job if he wants it, apparently.

There's no way that Patterson will leave TCU for Miami.
However, if Leach is offered the Miami job he would likely accept.

didnt sound like it today on "the ocho"... he's never coached so that hurts, and I really think they might pursue Kragthorpe form up here in Tulsa... Leach bombed in the interview, but i would love to see the coach over in FW try and yell at the criminals at The U and see what kind of response he gets

Why not? Unless the salary is virtually nil, most coaches would WALK from Fort Worth to South Florida. He'd be in the ACC, in the center of perhaps the most concentrated hotbed of football talent in the country, on national TV all the time, at a school that expects to win national championships instead of Rocky Mountain Region titles and has as much tradition as just about any school in the country, and I've got to believe Miami could more than match the money.
