It's on ESPN.com. What will the tide do now--Patterson, make another run at Saban? They have some issues to sort through. There's a reason people don't want to work there.

Good for UWA.
Alabama may be a job that is just too tough to handle. Boosters, alums and expectations are huge. Put Nebraska, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Texas, etc. on a list where losing three games a season is unacceptable, ever! Long traditions are short on patience.

From what I heard, UWV boosters got together and matched Alabama's offer in order to keep him there...evidently it worked.

So his "sticking to his word" and "staying at his alma mater" was a matter of dollars and cents -- what a surprise.
Ever been to West Virginia? I would have taken a paycut to move to 'Bama.

Will the SMU coaching job ever be considered "high pressure"? It would be nice if we could set the bar to where 8-9 win seasons are a must!

Great news for Big East, WVU and football in general. I doubt WVU could have matched 'Bama., so hometown discount probably took place...sorry, but I've been to both Tuscaloosa and Morgantown & neither are too great - in fact Morgantown may be a better locale to raise kids. He will last longer at WVU (Don Neihlen was there over 20 years) than many would last in the SEC (who is the 'dean' of SEC coaches?)

Just repeating what was broadcast on one of the cable sports shows this afternoon about the boosters matching the Bama offer.
