Gerald Ford: National Championship President

Playing center for the University of Michigan, Ford helped lead the Wolverines to the national championship in 1932 and 1933. Michigan went undefeated in both seasons.

We owe Gerald Ford our gratitude for helping pull the nation through a period of confusion and bitterness after Richard Nixon. His pardon was appropriate, but the decision probably cost him the 1976 election against Jimmy Carter.

Character and decency marked him and his presidency.

And for him, Go Wolverines.

R.I.P. President Ford. The Nixon pardon was absolutely the right thing to do. God bless those who made tough decisions for the good of the country, and especially those who stepped in to do a tough job that they never sought.

President Ford's granddaughter graduated from SMU in 2005. A true salt-of-the-earth person and you could never tell how deep her lineage spanned, ultimately a testament to the type of person he was.
