I agree if this is a defensive struggle then a mistake is going to decide the game. If that is the case, I could see Mac trying something and having it blow up in his face leading to a TCU score. As I said, I think Patterson will approach this one a lot like Bennett approached the North Texas game, playing conservative and not to lose. As we know that can be a regrettable strategy. If either team gets a ten point lead that team wins.

I think TCU@Texas will be a fun game. It wouldn't break my heart to see TCU win. I remember listening to the game in LA when SMU (with McIlhenny starting) beat Texas, 20-6?? in 1982?? and I couldn't believe we pulled it off. (Wonder what the spread was?). College is an emotional game and no one is unbeatable. Most teams have really "bad" games once or twice a season. i.e. TCU vs. SMU two years ago and SMU vs. N. Texas last year.

The game will be good; Andy Dalton will most-likely be our quarterback [if all goes right]. Based on what I've seen in him, both in high school and at practice, he's a lot more diverse and articulate than Jeff Ballard.

Time will indeed tell, my Ponies.

The point spread was 20. And no, we were not favored. Texas was #2 at the time and we had a freshman QB starting his first game and were coming off a two game losing streak. The win brought me a $K and more joy than you can imagine.

The best part was walking out of Memorial Stadium celebrating the win and having a burnt orange clad fan somewhere between 65 and death flip me off and yell "F-you, SMU." Really great fans down there.

We're proud of our English department??? Seriously, I'm concerned about QB - it sure would be nice to have Bomar ready to roll in Austin. I think our D keeps us in the game and it's going to come down to the QB making a couple big plays (or not making a couple bad plays). It's a tall task for an unproven QB to win at a place like UT but we've had good luck with unproven QBs stepping up over the last 5 years (Hassel and Ballard). I'm just glad we have the chance to play 'em.

Obviously, beating Texas in Austin will be tough. Good luck. And thanks to Caballo for info on SMU@Texas game. See, it can be done. Wonder if that game is on video somewhere for sale.

I wouldn't be "concerned," but would be "questioning."
