SMU at the Oscars

Postby Water Pony » Mon Feb 26, 2007 2:31 pm

SMU Football program won in the Best Picture and Best Director categories in the film, "The Departed"

Production started in 1987 and was completed in 2006. Twenty years is a long production schedule, but producer Kenneth Pye stated that this kind of performance deserves taking the long route to ensure the 'best' possible result.

The NCAA funded the production, despite closing the theatre run for one year in 1998. Their corporate offices refused to comment, when the FB program broke even this past season. They have alerted the internal audit group to careful monitor the program in 2007, since reports from Dallas suggest the team will be in the black next year.

The Purple Haze group from Fort Worth contributed to this renew expectations; when their performance bombed at the Ford Theatre last September. Their lead singer, Patterson, was not happy.

A new Hilltop producer, Steve Orsini, has taken the helm and declared the twenty run is coming to an end. This was a difficlut decision for the faculty to accept, since the Steve and his director, Phil Bennett, run the risk of disappointing these 'backers' next fall.

The Oscars next year may see these Mustangs lose the title of "Departed" but receive the award for Best Score and Documentary with Justin Willis the winner in the Best Actor category and DeMyron Martin as Best Supporting Actor. Best animation is likely to go to Gerald J. Ford Scorecard.

The new season may break "The Departed's" run, but the new production, "Glory", will be bowling near you soon.

Hopefully not a double feature with "Field of Dreams".

I was hoping no one would notice. I feel like Prince. I just could not handle the name change and asked to please be changed back. Your seats are still where they were last year and I guess even though I will have to make a flight in and out and a rental car all on September 3rd, I will be there for the 1st game. I can not stand missing the first game of the year even though it will be televised. I will have to use DFW instead of Love and I hate renting a car just for the in and out, but that's life.

It actually looks like I will be at 9 of the 12 games this year due to the proximity of the ASU, Memphis, and TCU games. I am excited, and feel like the more I attend the greater chance to see a win.
