Wasn't so much a scrimmage as it was a series of plays. However, with that said, here's a couple of things from the last couple of practices:
• David Haynes is running at first-team free safety. K.J. Ellis also seems to be getting significant time with the first and second team. • Zach Rhodes is really fast. He turned the corner on a linebacker and safety (couldn't see who) - who lokoed like they had decent angles - and sailed up the sideline like they were planted. He beat them to the sideline and found another gear as he turned upfield. Corey Slater looks a little faster, too. • Dominic Pryor moved from the defensive line to the offensive line, getting multiple reps at both tackle and guard. • Ryan Leonard is opening eyes in a hurry. He's not very tall, but he looks very strong and quick, and he's very good at getting his pads under the guy blocking him (and consider that he sometimes goes up against Mitch Enright, who isn't the tallest center in the world). • Maybe the brain has gone fuzzy in a year, but Jay'Mond Cleveland looks faster than I remember him before the injury cost him the 2006 season. Devin Lowery, now back at wide receiver, looks significantly stronger. • Brad Lankford is back at guard. • Haven't seen one ball kicked or punted this spring, but again, I've been getting out to the end of practices. • Patrick Strodtman looks - physically - like a fifth-year senior. • DeMyron Martin, as mentioned before, looks like he has moved into Vic Viloria's office and is running well. James Mapps, Cedrick Dorsey and especially Chris Butler are running very well, too. That's all I can think of at the moment. The "other" job is calling. More soon.

I'm glad Coach is going to apparently keep him at QB for now. I'm not saying he will beat out Willis, but I believe this guy has the talent and can play once he gets some more experience.
Glad Ryan Leonard is looking good in practice.
I've heard Brandon Bonds has been at practice every day, talking to the younger guys about what it takes to get ready, get it done. Given the way he led as a player, this (if true) isn't a surprise at all. Thanks for the report, Pride.
