I still say the perfect SMU OOC schedule would consist of Baylor, UNT, and TCU every year or as often as possible.....these are the 3 schools we should be playing on a regular basis....Local interest, small travel costs, and easy travel for fans...
With that we get two long time natural rivals...one a BCS school in the Big 12, the other a mid major power and our biggest rival.... With UNT we get big crowds and local interest and I could easily see this turning into a rivalry game and would ultimitely be good for both schools...biggest plus..you save travel costs. This still leaves one OOC game to schedule a real toughy (UT, A&M), or someone down a leg like TT or Navy. Womack + Wishbone = Heisman
Class of 89
I guess you are talking about NTSU-because if you are building a program that is concerned about beating NTSU then you aren't building much anyway. NTSU has some real revenue potential-they haven't even scratched the surface. If we are going to play the Sunbelt play NTSU and nobody else. I'm perfectly content if we don't play the Sun Belt at all but NTSU makes some foinancial sense plus all those games give you an extra driveable road game every other year within 100 miles.
We should schedule LSU to come whip our [deleted] every year at Jerry World. LSU would love to come here every year for recruiting purposes and to play in front of the huge contingent of alums here in North Texas. Our payoff is we get to be part of the collegiate contingent playing in Jerry World each year, money, and exposure as part of the ESPN gameday highlights showing the drunken LSU fans celebrating another touchdown. Who knows, one of these years, we might give them a real game, too............
