I'd say it's downright blinding. I just want to be playing football in December, and I don't care how we get there -- just as long as we get there.

Stats

Staying Healthy is a concern for all programs. so without saying, if we stay healthy, DMart will rule CUSA, rushing for 1,300-1,400 yards this season, and 200=300 receiving yards. J-Will will stay healthy, because he has to. He will throw more INT's, due to running less. TD's will be in the 30,s, due to DMarts rushing. This is the year we turn this thing around!!! Bennett will go to Carolina as the D Coord. leaving the head coaching job open????????

Put the Kool-aid down and step away from the cup. I'm assuming you meant the Carolina Panthers. For a mid-major coach who would have had ONE, say it with me, ONE winning season with a badly lopsided overall record to get offered a defensive coordinator position at an NFL team is nothing short of laughable. Bennett is a great guy and I think he has the potential to be a good coach when he's not getting pummeled by opposing players or losing to pee-wee teams. But I'm advising you to put down the Kool-aid because I think someone spiked your trash can punch.

Tom Rossley was the O-coordinator for the Packers after he left SMU.

I heard he is going to be eligible this fall, thanks to summer school making up the classes that got bumped in the spring when he got sick. Anyone know anything about his strength or weight or overall health?

Good luck, Columbus. We're ALL pulling for you to make a full recovery, and get back on the field with your teammates.

If Willis only has 4 interceptions this year then we will have had a poor season. I know this sounds backwards, but for us to be succesfull I really feel his interceptions must go up. This means we are actually attacking down field rather than dump off passes, bubble screens, and other passing plays netting us 3 yards a pop. Being that the first 2 games of the season were so conservative (Tech and UNT) and he didn't play vs UTEP, I would expect from that alone Willis's INTs would climb to 6. Then factor in that we should actually be attacking through the air and I would think he has got to end up with 10 picks or so, even if he plays just as well as he did last season.

Man, I miss the jugs machine..... my wife never let me plays with hers.

that's funny, she lets me.... ooooooo

See now, that just isn't fair! I went to junior high with ponydawg's wife.... I never got close to the jug machine!!! What gives, LF68? The closest I got was playing basketball against her. She was, um, far better than me.

Wait, check that, I think I just watched her play basketball. It was a students vs. teachers game or something... Junior high was a long time ago... Regardless, she was better than me. And I played basketball in junior high.... very, very badly. I signed up to play football too, but when I got home with all the pads and stuff, well I thought I might get killed. I just decided to stick to riding the pine in basketball, picking up my thirty seconds of mop-up duty every game. Oh and I played baseball. Would you like to know more?

ponydawg, tell the wife I say hullo. And that LF68 ain't all he's cracked out to be.

What kind of insider information do you have here?

And in terms of "less running" - while I agree we will see a few more picks - I think the thing that JWill really brings to the table with his feet is not necessarily rushing (though that's great), but it's how he uses his feet to make plays down the field. I just love his ability to ease himself into passing lanes and find the open receiver.

bigdaddy, we're all hoping for a monster season from your son. Give him our best.

And he did come from Green Bay with Forrest Gregg.

(As far as I know.)

"And he did come from Green Bay with Forrest Gregg."

I thought he came from Atlanta, hell I can't remember.

The point I was making is that it's not toooo laughable for a good coordinator to be recognized as such even if they don't cut it as a head coach.

<EDIT>
Yeah I was right about something! he did come from Atlanta to SMU. That was the Jerry Glanville gameball tie-in.

Are we off topic yet?

Gumbo's been working out to really make up for everything and he's progressively getting his weight up. He's not a stick so much anymore and I believe is around 170lb at the moment. I've seen him with his ankle taped and it appears that he's got a bit of an ankle problem right now but has been getting it treated. Also, he passed his classes in session one and is ready to go for fall. Finally, I hear JWill and Gumbo live together now while Emmanuel is living with his cousin, Josh Bryant.

We do have some depth at wide receiver so even if someone goes down this year, we have a player or two that can step in and do a good job. We're especially deep at tight end (since all of our former QB's end up there). The one player who we cannot afford to lose is Willis. Hopefully we put a whoopin on Arkansas State and/or UNT so that his backup can get some playing time just in case. And please if we are losing badly during the season to anyone, don't leave Willis in the game to get hurt. Let his back-up get some reps.

I disagree that we have depth at Wideout. I'm not convinced that a full spread if we have to rely on Hudnall, Zimmerman, Henderson or Zach Rhodes to step up. I'm really not comfortable with anyone in the top two not named Givens or Sanders.

It's true that any of the above named players may really turn it on and step up if someone goes down with an Injury. But that's a "what if" that just dog-piles on the many other "what ifs" this team has to deal with this season. Clearly we don't just throw the season away if we lose Sanders, Givens, or Lowery, but I don't think that we have enough depth to brush off such a loss.
