Jerry LeVias BanquetFor those of you who care, or were there last night. The banquet honoring Jerry LeVias as the Touch Downer of the Year was pretty impressive. Along with Jerry they presented the Pre-Season All-Houston Team. The young men on stage were massive. All of the soon to be seniors were much bigger than what I remember in high school, which was not that long ago. Unfortunately, many of them had already committed to other schools. Many of which were out of state. One however, a receiver named Darius Austin from B.T. Washington high school was still deciding. SMU was one of the schools on the list. All in all it was a great night for SMU. Jerry is a tremendous speaker and really passionate about many things I had no idea he was into. There were other Hayden Fry players there as well that I was able to visit with. Guys like Rufus Cormier, Chuck Hixon, and many other great Mustangs. It was fun to visit with these guys who were such great players and still care so much for each other and SMU football. With that, I even more pumped for the season than ever. Go Stangs. Beat ttech.
Re: Jerry LeVias BanquetAccording to Rivals, Darius Austin is 5-10, 170. No 40 time listed. Says we've offered (being recruited by RBs coach Clarence James). Reports other offers from Louisiana-Lafayette and UTEP. Interest in/from Kansas State, LSU, Oklahoma, UNT and TCU. Junior stats: 35 catches 750 yards 21.4 yards per catch 11 receiving touchdowns 11 kickoff returns 282 return yards 25.7 yards per return 1 return touchdown Thanks for the report, 35straight!
Thanks for the report, 35straight. LeVias is a class act and deserves this recognition. Great to hear that other SMU greats were there for his honor, too. Sounds like it was a great night for LeVias and SMU. Thanks again.
Ditto. Congratulations, Jerry!
