Is Willis' hand still hurt?

Postby tristatecoog » Tue Sep 04, 2007 11:19 am

Sonnie Cumbie was conjecturing that Justin's hand may not be fully recovered because he didn't seem to have as much zip on the balls that he did last year. Granted, there were a handful of dropped balls. So was that the difference or could there be some truth to the recovery observation.

well, it was raining most of the first half. That didn't seem to bother Harrell, though.

He also had seven passes dropped. Wouldn't have won the game with those catches, but his percentage would have been a hell of a lot better, and the margin might have been a little smaller, if only because Tech's offense wouldn't have been on the field all day.

I don't really think Willis ever had much zip on the ball in the first place -not really his game. He's more of a touch passer.

The other difference between Harrell and Willis. Harrell had ALL DAY to go through his reads and his line opened up huge lanes for him to throw in. Willis on the other hand was either running for his life, or the line was pushed back into him, so he was throwing off his back foot. Except for the swing/screen passes he had very few lanes to throw through.

I think everyone is over-reacting to the one sideline throw he had that looked like a dead duck and fell about 7 yards short. If I recall I think it was still raining when that happened, so ?wet ball?. Otherwise, I saw nothing else to suggest his hand was still bothering him.
