We've got issues

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:13 pm

Since I've posted that a win is a win, my conscience is clear when I say that SMU vulnerable to most of the teams left on our schedule. Therefore, I will savor this moment because we can't ever take wins for granted this year. Let's enjoy this one as long as it lasts, and hope we'll get to do it again sometime soon. Playing on the road is always risky with PB. Nevertheless, BEAT ArK State!

Could we ever (post-DP) take wins for granted?

600 yards indicates what is to come? Really...?

You a golfer? How many times have you started out par, par, par and shot 90? or, started out with a couple of bogeys and a double, and broke 80?

Stats are for losers. Case in point, yesterday...BEAT ASU.

We are dead last against the pass, in the entire NCAA

Do you honestly think that all of a sudden we are going to have a miracle turnaround and be GOOD on defense?

Did you attend the Derek Zoolander Center for People Who Can't Think Good?

Yeah, you must have.

We are going to get torched by UTEP, Tulsa, USMiss, TCU, and perhaps Houston, UCF and Tulane.

That could be 8 losses if this keeps up. And that's IF we beat ArkState...who only allowed 21 pts against THE GREAT STATE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS.

Um...it's the Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good, and Want to Learn to do Other Stuff Good too. I happen to be a 2003 graduate.

It was a play on words...Think vs Read - he cant think good

I sat in the stands last night at the game listening to the majority of smu "fans" around me spout off negativity from the first play and continuing throughout the game. I have never seen such a lack of support for a team and the team includes the coaches. It is embarassing that the school spirit coming from the UNT sidelines was 10 times what I heard from SMU -- and that was from the first snap after they had suffered a bigger loss than SMU the prior week. What does that say about SMU fans? My father and grandfather played football for SMU and my father is still a big supporter. He was with SMU during the glory days, and he still feels the same kind of loyalty and school spirit for the school as he did back then -- despite the major obstacles and frustration. It is disheartening to see such "fairweather" fans when I was raised in an environment where that was not acceptable. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a player on this team when fans are screaming negative comments at the field as soon as the game starts and when they turn it around -- still not much support. I think it would serve the team better if everyone could attempt to muster up some positive support for the team -- get on your feet - yell - it is a football game. At the end of the day, I think a team is often affected by the emotion of the crowd. I am not saying that is the reason for the mistakes that were made -- but I am sure the lack of school spirit does not help. One win down. Go ponies!!

You obviously haven't been going to these games since 1989 and suffering through the same amount of misery as most of us.

Wow! well, at least there is spirit here.

it's sad to hear that people were [deleted] in the stands... I was sitting in 103, the last row, right on the aisle, and there was not a single person saying anything negative; there was very good support and spirit, despite the relatively older crowd...

nevertheless, J willis played very well. Muse played very well. Wilton McCray made some great plays. the DB's needs to tighten up a bit, but we'll get there....

see you guys in Jonesboro.

Bold is what Arkansas State did against THE University of TEXAS

1st Downs 26 23
Total Yards 397 340
Passing 272 223
Rushing 125 117

Thank god that giving up 601 yards to North Texas is not a sign of what might happen later in this season (according to FordtoTolbert).

Ford ascribes to the 'market' theory of football -- where past performance is not a true indicator of future results.

By contrast, I subscribe to the 'I seen is with my own eyes' theory of football -- where past performance indicates that we suck against the pass, and that will cost us dearly in W-L outcome...

Ramon better v. Hixson / Ford...You would pick Romo over Lance? Fred Benners? What do stats indicate? We roll up STATS OF THE CENTURY under Tommy R. and what do we have to show for it? Secondary needs to address some gaps, but I am not going to freak out about it and write off the season and [deleted] my pants because we have to play Arkie State in J'boro next weekend.....
