Being there for this one, it looked like about 18k to me (and I always allow for the 500 or so i the boxes and club seats), so I assume that announced attendance was a PAID attendance figure. I know I had 2 that didn't get used.
I would guess about 11k SMU and 7k UNT fans. We really do need to continue this series with them. They have decent support for that program and tons of potential for it to grow. I wish SMU would bring those kind of numbers to Ft Worth in 2 weeks but certainly don't expect it. Orsini needs to set up a home & home deal with UNT where they come to Ford in those years we travel to Ft Worth. Then try to keep things going with Baylor, TTech, Navy, Army and others where we could do home and homeseries and have decent attendance

SMU like most smaller schools, used to pad attendance numbers, but Orsini only counts what comes through the gate. That's his policy.

So what was the attendance for Tech - we were told it was sold out but there were many empty seats

26,000+. It was a marketing ploy by suggesting that very few tickets remained. Apparently our head coach doesn't understand. Seriously Bennett cost SMU some serious money by blabbing that the game was sold out. After perusing the Tech and SMU boards I'm positive that it significantly damped attendance as many were misled.

If someone has a media guide, I'm guessing the last time we had back-to-back 20K crowds was 2005 against Baylor and TCU.

Baylor was 29 and TCU 22, as I recall.
