Run the F'ing ball more! Save the defense from being on the field so much and chew up some time. it is not like we are not succesful running the ball.
Class of '91
Can D-Mart please get at least a dozen touches, he will never win the Doak Walker award getting in on 5 plays a game!
Amen. Even the ladies around us Saturday were saying Saturday give the ball to #8.
Even if he is stopped for no gain, the clock runs so it gives our defense some additional time. If we also coached Justin to let the play clock run a little longer and not hike the ball at 12 to 13 seconds left, but 5 to 6 it would add up over the course of a game. But that would require coaching all aspects of the game which may be asking too much.
And boom goes the dynamite...........Eleven carries, wow! I think Dante Womack got more touches in a similar spread offense. "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion" - Rudy T.
I could not agree more about our need to eat some clock, especially when playing away from home. I think it is part of the reason why we tend to fall behind early, we let the other teams offense spend too much time with the ball at the start, it allows them to get into a rhythm before we do and is frankly somewhat suicidal....
Yes, Brian, exactly. Plus, old #8 will wear them down if & when we ever run between the hashmarks. Only at SMU can one of your top recruits (Martin) sit on the sideline so that one of your walk-ons (Morstead) can become the leading Punter in the ncaa (... "Not that there is anything wrong with Morstead being a great Punter"... [don't want pi$$ off the PF Special Teams tribe]!!!
Remember, coach is saving our running backs for later.
![]() I can kinda understand wanting to be consistent with an offensive philosophy, but why not change it up a little so that JW is under center more? Gosh, it is possible for a qb to throw a pass if he starts out under center. Doesn't that put more pressure on the other team's D?
