20 years later, schools still heed stern message

RULE 2. We got what we deserved as far as the death penalty is concerned. We paid players, we covered it up, we flipped a great big bird at the NCAA, we told them basically, "try and catch us" all while we were already on probation, and they caught us and gave us the whuppin we deserved. Just because the NCAA hasn't chosen to issue it again, doesn't mean we didn't deserve it. That's sort of like a murderer who raped and killed someone complaining because he got the death penalty while another rapist murderer got life in prison. The first guy still deserved the death penalty, but the second guy just got mercy.

When it's because the judge is buddies with the father of the second guy, I take umbrage there. They are b4st4rds, right/wrong/indifferent.

while everybody else on this board was making December Bowl plans I put in writing my grades for the SMU defense and none of the grades at any position were above a C. I DON'T THINK SMU HAS MUCH TALENT ON DEFENSE. Took a lot of [deleted] for those opinions but I thought I clearly said that for every bright spot on offense there are two negatives on defense.

As far as the death penalty is concerned; you are probably too close to the forrest to see the trees. AZ. ST. Univ. (The real ASU) got caught shaving points for Las Vegas. How did Reggie Bush get his family from Compton CA to Bel Air. USC told him not to come to the Rose Bowl. Why? does Fla.,Texas, USC, ASU, UO, OSU continually have winning programs? Because they do the same thing SMU did. They have the political clout to contain the problem. I don't condone what SMU did but I do understand it. How many murders does UO have to commit before the NCAA does something, 50,60,70,100. You folks in Dallas need to forgive yourselves or something. The rest of America knows what happened and why. We want SMU to win. XXit I didn't think I would need to counsel you guy's.

There isn't a forest anymore, dude. While the NCAA was camped in a tent in a tree, they stopped one logger, but they have ignored the fact that the forest was sold to the BCS out from under them, and it got clear cut years ago. Now, it's a parking lot.

They were too busy hugging the one tree and prosecuting one logger to notice.

Kind of like the US Dept. of Interior.

So, no, I'm not too close to the forest. I can see just fine. Just nobody really gives a [deleted] because they are too busy complaining about the this ridiculous parking lot and the fact that it needs landscaping (playoff), or they are savoring the millions they are making not having to deal with trees. Who needs good, solid pine anyway? SMU sure doesn't...it can't even fathom a baseball team.
