Austin, TX Travis County Sheriff, Greg Hamilton, has announced that the position of Deputy Sheriff is now filled. Sheriff Hamilton announced that Mack Brown has been hired to fill this position.
"Brown is in a unique position to fill the job requirements of arresting individuals and starting the booking process."

Brown, an employee at the University of Texas, will continue his current UT employment as well as acting as a Deputy Sheriff. "Thanks to Brown's current position, he is ideally situated to quickly move to arrest known criminals" Hamilton said.

Hamilton was hopeful that Brown's hire would also break up local crime rings. "Brown is comfortable working with and around criminals. He has fantastic connections to the local criminal elements" Hamilton said.

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and some holidays, nights and weekends.

Salary Information:
$21.11 Hourly

Essential Functions:
Patrols an assigned area and respondes to emergency calls and routine compaints. Issues traffic citations and directs traffic; investigates traffice accidents and crimes against persons and property. Serves warrants, makes arrests and starts booking procedures on arrested individuals. May serve court processes, collect evidence, guard and transpoert prisioners, patrol lake areas by boat or on horseback; may address and work with community groups to foster good relations with the public. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Experience and education equivalent to a High School graduation or its equivalent and basic certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers and Education.
Must be at least 21 years of age with preferably two years of experience of law enforcement.
Must pass all written, physical and psychological tests required.

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish
