I heard worse at the Southern Miss game, all directed at the SMU team and fans. The police finally had to tell the guy to shut up.

We're all frustrated. I'm just not into public tantrums.

See that's the problem...when you hit 18 it's not they call your parents and send you home. It's they lock you up and charge you with battery and assault. So instead of doing the childish and enjoyable act of threatening to kick their sorry a**es, you have to do the adult, correct thing and ask them nicely to stop.

If anyone cares, the reason the ball was not immediately snapped was that Tulane called a time out in order to give the officials time to call for a replay.

The original reason that the ball was not snapped is Phired Phil's insane obsession with the freaking Swinging Gate extra point. Since we do it every attempt, every team covers this simple to defend play. We then move into our normal set and kick the ball. However, if we run out and immediately line up to kick the extra point the chances are good that nobody has had a chance to see the freakin' replay to call down and say you should challenge this.

The swinging gate is the symbol of all things currently incorrect with our program. Mark my words - when we no longer see it - we will begin to mark the recovery.

An it was bone headed not to try to speed up the kick - of all the things to dislike about our current staff - clock managment is at the very top of the list.

Nice people. Unfortunately, nice people are a dime a dozen.

Which is what I was urging the team to do by shouting "Kick the ball NOW!" while everyone else in the stands and on the sidelines were sitting on their asses!

Out of curiousity, has he ever given an answer as to why he does that(the swinging gate)?

I know the answer, but I sure would like to hear the head coach respond to that specific question.

For the last FG/Extra point of his SMU career, he will actually call the fake...and they will never see it coming.

That'll be in Memphis. Elvis will be in attendance.
