They attempted a training table but the boys have to pay to eat and the food is still slop. These boys live off campus and it is encouraged and they are responsible for wht they eat. No nutrionist or nothing so it burgers, pizza...etc..etc...not food for champions. It explains why the boys are so small...they are not on a plan at all. geez.

I have eaten at Umphrey Lee twice in the last 2 months. Although I would not qualify as a "regular", I considered the food to be quite good - for a school cafeteria that is cooking for hundreds of students - most with persnickety tastes. Hopefully, your next big-a$$ contribution to the athletic department will endow a training table.
As I posted a while back, I talked to Thomas Morstead about the training table. They have it three nights a week. All the scholarship guys are encouraged to eat there. If they live on campus, the just swipe their meal card and eat. If they live off campus and get meal money instead of the meal plan (as many do), they swipe their cards and it comes off their Pony cards. Either way, it's "free" for them it's just a matter of how it's accounted for per NCAA rules.

I know for a fact that if they live in Moore hall that is considered an apartment and they Do Not get a meal plan with tht. They get a stipend. Which as of now they are not sure if the money for the "training table" will be taken out of there stipend or not. The boys will not know until Friday if they have to pay for the meals. As it stands now...the meals are "not free".
However it happens, I hope these guys get the food they need. Sounds like the most obvious statement ever, I realize, but when you look at guys like Youri Yenga, Jordan Johnson, Tyler Jones, etc. .... those guys were awesome Saturday and give us, as fans, a lot of encouragement for the future of SMU football. Do we need more players? Of course. But some young guys showed a lot of legitimate promise Saturday.
