People-Get a grip!Haven't post on your board in a while but I figured is time, with all of the wailing and knashing of teeth! As you may or may not know know, I am a North Texas fan. Don't hold that against me, I am here to put things in perspective with regards to SMU's football plight. Some things I have observed in some of the messages:
-go JUCO -fire Bennett -drop to 1AA -etc., etc., etc. Bennett is in his 1st or 2nd year at SMU? It doesn't matter. If he is, in fact, playing Freshman, and it seems to the average fan that the offense is limited, then I can tell you he is slowly(painfully slow) feeding them an offense that they can run. It might be a handfull of plays, but that's OK. Consider what UNT fans had to endure with Darryl Dickey his first 3-4 years at NT. Fans got so tired of handoffs and drawplays to stacked defenses, we thought we were going to puke. But, Dickey did not back off. He knew what he was doing. Most fans sure didn't. Even last year, with a great defense, our redshirt freshman QB was thrown into the Texas game when the starter went down. It was tought watching game after game. Dickey remained steadfast, knowing that his RS freshman would be spoon fed any type of a complex offensive schemes. Give Bennett time to develop "his" players. Few JUCOS should be brought in. UNT has JUCOS but too many as far as I'm concerned. Bring the Freshman in and develop them slowly. This takes at least three years before you see the benefits. Like I said, I'm an NT fan so there's no love lost for SMU. But my Mother said to never hit someone when they're down. Or did my Dad say that?? Anyway, don't give up. In the big picture, college football is just a past time. It's not the end of the world if SMU is 0-11. :whistling:
Re: People-Get a grip! You were cool until that last sentence.
And many of your points are valid ones. Progress takes time.
Re: People-Get a grip!Agreed, Big Easy, the last sentence bummed me out. But thanks for your encouraging words there, Mr. Bluto. Good luck the rest of the year.
Re: People-Get a grip!Actually, I meant to use a different graemlin and then I noticed there is no edit feature on this board. 0-11 was not meant as a slam, just to emphasive that it's not the end of the world. Sorry for the mispelled words too.

Re: People-Get a grip!No worries, Bluto, and I think you're right, although I hope it doesn't come to that.
Re: People-Get a grip!Ahem. There is too an edit feature UNT scum! :showoff:
Re: People-Get a grip!Well aren't you the resident [deleted]. I come on your board in peace and you call me UNT scum? Why don't you just kiss my asss! [deleted].
BTW, this board does not have a true edit feature that I can find. Only a preview. Good boards have an feature where you can change text "after" a message has been posted. I guess this one sucks just like smu who football. 0-11, how does that sound prickmeister? 0-11, 0-11.
Re: People-Get a grip!:showoff: Down here, you can see the message that I edited my post. [ 10-05-2003, 08:28 PM: Message edited by: Smoo Power ]
Re: People-Get a grip!My mistake. I just flat did not see it. I still did not deserve to be called scum by that [deleted].

Re: People-Get a grip!Wow. And I was totally joking NTSU scum.
Re: People-Get a grip! And you are the classic smoooo [deleted] that gives your overhyped college a pathetic reputation.
Here's to that 0-11 mustang season. Yesiree Bob, you guys are on a roll! :thumbupcool:
Re: People-Get a grip!Bluto, you are dead wrong about football being only a pass time when it comes to its importance to university enrollment and endowments. As Snoopy said in Peanuts, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, unless you lose." The Bennett failure again this year is critical to SMU's future. There are some devoted supporters who are on the verge of giving up completely on the program, and they might never come back. This is more serious than some die hard believers care to admit.

Re: People-Get a grip!Sam - you are 100% correct in what you just said and I am one of those long time supporters who are on the verge of giving up.
