"Paul to the ponies?

Look for SMU to begin contacting candidates now that a search committee has been formed. The school likely will end up choosing a veteran coach who is a proven commodity.

An interesting name has emerged: former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni, who is Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach. Pasqualoni coached the Orange for 14 years and went 107-59-1 with nine bowl appearances.

Others who will be involved are Glen Mason, Terry Bowden, Larry Coker and Gary Barnett, who has publicly expressed interest in the job. And if Houston Nutt gets chased from Arkansas, he may be a good fit at SMU."

Maybe going to the NFL would be a good direction. Seems like just about all college coaches that have a big name and proven record also are dragging a lot of baggage.

His last few years at Syracuse make you wonder about him-something went awry-
