No, Stallion, haven't you heard? Gill's just the only black man on campus, filling the quota so the school can get federal funding!!
Please list all the Div-1A coaches that jumped from QB or WR coach to HC. If you find one, I will retract all of my statements. If you cannot find one, then you have inquire into this 'issue'
The coach whose team beat us on Sunday, Art Briles!
Clearly hired as the token white at UH.

Thank you! That didn't make too much sense to me either.

TOP 10 ...1 .Terry Bowden 2. Gary Barnett 3. [deleted] Tomey 4. Glen Mason 5. Paul Johnson 6. Turner Gill 7. Houston Nutt 8. George O'Leary 9. Major Applewhite 10. Rick Neuheisal........If all these guys don't work out, maybe we should offer the Coach who applied for the SMU job in 1956 and SMU turned down ! Coach Darrell Royal of Texas. WOW , I wonder where we would be today if SMU had enough sense to hire him back then ?

New top coaching candidate based on Phirephil's criteria - my 9 year old son.
He is also very young and is completely unproven, so we don't know just how great a coach he might be.
Also - time to change your has-been handle.

Here is mine
1. Neuheisel <-- recruiting and gambling violations 2. Bowden <-- undisclosed violations 3. Barnett <-- recruiting and sexual misconduct (players) violations 4.Franchione <-- recruiting and general bad judgement violations
Is this your Top 3 / 4 that can get SMU the 2nd death penalty?
Fran is the Man for this job. He turned TCU around with serious help from a previous recruiting class that sent 19 players to NFL, Tomlinson, and an incredible DC (Gary Patterson)......but I still believe he would be highly successful at SMU and you're probably not going to attract anyone better.
Imagine going to a bowl game, just picture it in your head. I think Fran could do this for SMU.

At least he used a different font color.
If we did actually hire Fran, it would scare the crap out of TCU and Fat Patt.

It would also make for an interesting rivalry.
Fran would love nothing more than to beat TCU, but he is also scared of GP's Frogs. In 2004 On 1310 Ticket, he said "A&M is not ready to play at TCU's level and we will not schedule them until we can compete."

The one name that I wish we had taken a serious look at the last time this position opened up is John Cooper. He would have been great for us. He has ties to the region, was successful at Tulsa, ethical, and a consistent winner. Unfortunately he is now too old for this position.
